Weekly (On Going) Class - New York
The emphasis on all Weekly Classes and Cycles is on training the actor in two major areas:
First, the Actors Instrument, the process of training the actor how to identify and eliminate obstacles from BEING, expression and organically reacting. The journey is specific to each actor as each exercise is customized to eliminate obstacles incrementally and over time.
Second, is The Craft, the process of creating the Characters reality. Currently, there are over 30 Choices Approaches in The Work at BAW. Each Cycle (8 – 12 weeks) varies by focusing on different aspects, components, and areas related to The Craft and well as The Instrument.
New actors will work more with monologues for cycle, maybe two, and then will move onto scene work. Actors who have been with us for a few Cycles will work on Scenes and One Act Plays as well.
A 15-WEEK FALL INTENSIVE TO EMPOWER THE ACTOR!
Learning the craft, training to solidify your foundation is essential and necessary. But that is only the first half of your work. Applying the craft in front of the camera and on stage is the other half.
Our 15-Week Fall Intensive (our weekly class option) is about learning a Craft Foundation and applying it in between 6-10 scenes to be shot on location.
As part of this learning experience the actor will create at least 4 scenes and will be encouraged to direct them (if desired).
At the end of the cycle, we will be having a viewing of everyone's work with an invited audience, with feedback and a discussion for next steps!
